Weapon Penetration

Weapon Penetration

Do not mix penetration with damage, penetration does not increase damage, penetration is the chance to do damage.

Each ballistic weapon has a set of Penetration Values, for this FAQ, I will use 50mm PaK gun as the example.

PaK3 8 Penetration
Long/Distant: 0.85 = 85%
Medium: 0.9 = 90%
Short: 1.25 = 125%

These are the weapon's chance to penetrate any armor Before Multipliers. Not very useful on its own.

Example

The target table within the weapon statistics contain Penetration and Rear Penetration values, (P) and (R).

After you have found the distance, simply multiply the default Penetration by the Multiplier, and you shall have your penetration rate vs that target.

VERY IMPORTANT: The Actual Rear Penetration Multiplier = Penetration x Rear Penetration, NOT Pen(R) by itself.

Shots that do not penetrate will still inflict damage, in the case of PaK 38, the Deflection Damage Multiplier is 0.5, a deflected round will do 50% damage, for most tank weapons, this value about 15%

So, A PaK 38 shooting at a M26 Pershing from Long distances will Penetration (0.85x0.45=0.3825 ~ ) 38% of the time,
A normal round will do the full 115 Damage
A deflected round will do 115 x 0.5 = 57.5 Damage
